Open studio in Tashkent

What objects do we have with us when we flee home? Which resources could we share with refugees from the past, present and future? Collaborative artist-run space, 2025

In the first week of October 2025, we invited people to visit an open studio in the Yashnabad district of Tashkent. The aim of the project was to raise awareness and establish dialogue on the topics of mass displacements, genocide and mutual aid through artistic practices.

Visitors wandered through a lived-in studio where Tashkent’s artists shaped both new visions and completed works, shared conversation over a warm meal, and strolled along the shaded lanes of the mahallas.

To enter the studio, visitors were offered an opportunity to make a donation to Palestinians in Gaza here or here. You can also do so today.
